Meet Our Team

Melanie Klebanov, LSW
Mental Health Counselor (South Elgin office or telehealth)
Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, and I want to acknowledge the courage it takes to begin. I’m Melanie, a Licensed Social Worker, and I’m passionate about supporting children, adults and couples as they navigate life’s challenges with compassion, curiosity, and care.

I work with clients ages 6 and up and have experience supporting clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, and relationship concerns. I also help individuals navigating life transitions, identity exploration, and LGBTQIA+–related experiences. I have a particular interest in couples therapy and use EMDR to help clients process past trauma and build resilience.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood while also building practical tools you can use in your daily life.

As a bilingual therapist fluent in English and Russian, I value providing culturally responsive, inclusive care and strive to meet clients where they are. My background also includes crisis counseling and advocacy work, which has deepened my commitment to creating a nonjudgmental and affirming environment for all clients.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my partner and our pets, being outdoors, reading, and finding new ways to continue learning and growing—both personally and professionally. My goal is to help you gain insight, strengthen coping skills, and move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply looking for a space to process, I’d be honored to support you.
