Meet Our Team

Hello! I'm Emily McLaughlin, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) and national certified counselor (NCC). I am passionate about working with adolescents (age 12 and up), teens and adults to help them navigate life's challenges and find their path to well-being.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Illinois State University and my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Northern Iowa. My mission is to break down the negative stigmas around mental health and make seeking help a positive, empowering experience.

I believe in a collaborative, person-centered approach, where you and I work together to create a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. I integrate evidence-based practices like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) to address various issues, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief, and relationship concerns.

My style is warm, empathetic, and collaborative, aiming to provide a non-judgmental and safe space where you can openly explore your thoughts and feelings. Whether you are dealing with anxiety, adjusting to life changes, or seeking to improve your relationships, I am here to support you every step of the way.

I am dedicated to continuous learning and professional development to stay current with the latest therapeutic methods and technologies. This includes deepening my expertise in CBT, DBT and LGBTQIA+ concerns.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family, friends, and pets. Traveling is another passion of mine, as it allows me to explore new places and cultures, enriching my life and practice.
