Meet Our Team
Rachael Romba, LSW
Mental Health Counselor (South Elgin office or telehealth)
I am a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) based in South Elgin, Illinois, having completed my Master of Social Work degree from Aurora University. My professional focus centers on working with children, adolescents, and adults starting from age 7 and up, offering services to individuals, couples, and families. With a diverse range of experiences, I've provided various treatments addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance abuse and prevention, restorative education for juveniles, and major life transitions.

In my therapeutic approach, creating a safe and judgment-free space is paramount. I believe in ensuring that my clients feel heard and comfortable expressing themselves. Striving to embody empathy, competency, and understanding, I adopt a collaborative approach to treatment, meeting clients "where they are at" to tailor interventions uniquely to their situation.

While I am most comfortable with intervention styles such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, and person-centered treatment, I am enthusiastic about exploring additional theories and interventions beneficial to clients, including EMDR and RPT. My treatment scope encompasses mental health challenges, LGBTQIA+ issues, relationship maintenance, and more.

As a lifelong learner, I am passionate about continuous growth. In my leisure time, I indulge in arts and crafts, such as painting or crocheting, enjoy quality moments with my cat, engage in video games, spend time with loved ones, and create music. The guiding quote that resonates with my approach is, "Let go of who you think you're supposed to be; embrace who you are." – Brené Brown.
