Karen Foreman, LCSW

Founder & Clinical Therapist

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Geneva, IL. I have been practicing in the mental health field for over ten years. I work with children ages 12 and up, teenagers, individual adults, couples and families. I received my Masters of Social Work and Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Services degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I prioritize continuing my education through attending various workshops, lectures and trainings in order to enhance my abilities as a therapist.

I believe my role as your therapist is to use my knowledge and open-minded attitude to help you unlock the potential within yourself and your relationships. I realize how intimidating it can be to seek out help, which is why I am passionate about meeting you wherever you are on life's journey and tailoring my approach to fit your individual needs and personality.

You will learn to manage anxiety through developing efficient coping strategies. You'll also improve your interpersonal relationships by practicing more effective communication. Lastly, because you will be equipped with the skills necessary to feel healthier and happier, your self-esteem and confidence will soar, making transitions in life less intimidating.

When I am not in the office seeing clients, you can find me enjoying nature with my husband and dogs, watching my nieces' soccer games, or trying out a new restaurant!

I am a Licensed Social Worker based out of Geneva, IL and welcome clients ages 13 years old and above. My experience has primarily focused on the justice-involved population, with additional competency working with a diverse population of individuals who are experiencing symptoms related to trauma, depression, anxiety, ADHD, substance abuse disorders, or are in need of crisis stabilization.

I attended Aurora University where I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in social work. I am a certified facilitator for both Moral Reconation Therapy and Anger Management. Personally, my learning is perpetual so it is of great importance to me to continually educate myself on various vulnerable populations while diversifying my skill set. I am currently training in EMDR Therapy taught by Ricky Greenwald with Trauma Institute & Child Trauma Institute.

As a therapist, I utilize a very honest, empathetic, and diversified approach that is continuously evolving to match each client's individual needs. My goal for our work together is to create a partnership with you, where empowerment is paramount and the common goal of achieving emotional wellness, igniting your potential, and establishing lifelong skills for your future is accomplished.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family (especially my grandchildren), reading, watching documentaries, and crafting.

I am a Licensed Social Worker who is passionate about helping clients from all walks of life. I realize that people have many challenges and stressors throughout life and it is important to have someone to talk to who is trained to help in an objective manner. If you need someone to help you process issues and overcome challenges, you are in the right place.

I can help teach you skills to better manage anxiety, depression, feeling overwhelmed, and many other every day issues. The non-judgmental and supportive guidance I will provide allows you to openly express yourself without feeling on edge or overwhelmed. If you are not quite sure what you want to work on, but know that you want to feel empowered and supported in your journey towards mental health, I am here to help.

In my work with clients, I also focus on how the past and present events in your life factor into current stress and challenges. This allows us to better understand ways to improve your functioning and reduce distress in a manner that works best for you, because everyone has unique needs.

I have experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, grief, trauma, low self-esteem or are looking for help managing anger or stress. I work with tweens, teens, and adults.

Specific therapy approaches I use include Strengths-Based Practice, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Practice, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Empowering Approaches.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing with my Goldador, and traveling around the United States.
